RALEIGH, N.C. – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish spent three days in Raleigh as they competed in NC State’s Raleigh Relays March 28-30.

Day One
The Notre Dame men’s distance runners had a big first day of relays as they competed in the 1500m, 3000m steeplechase, 5k, and 10k races.
Carter Solomon finished 20th with a time of 3:43.04, followed by Jake Renfree with a time of 3:43.49. Both Solomon’s and Renfree’s time rank in the top 20 of the NCAA times this season, putting them in position to qualify for regionals.
Tom Sietzer also posted a regional qualifying time as he now sits at 15th in the NCAA with a time of 8:50.91 in the 3000m steeplechase.
Tyler Berg had a big time top-10 finish in the 10k with a new PR time of 28:34.00, crushing his previous best time in the event by 52 seconds. HIs time is ranked 7th in the NCAA, qualifying for regionals.
CJ Singleton and Daelen Ackely competed in their first ever 5k’s, with regional qualifying times of 13:49.25 and 13:52.17, respectively.
Day Two
The second day of the Raleigh Relays were huge for regional qualifying for Andrea Markezich and Erin Strzelecki. The duo of distance runners each recorded significantly new PR’s in the 10,000m as Markezich took home second in the event (32:36.16) and Strzelecki took home sixth (32:44.62). Both rank amongst the top 5 in the NCAA as Markezich is currently ranked 2nd and Strzelecki is ranked 5th.
In the steeplechase, Sophie Novak had a regional qualifying performance as she finished third in the event with a time of 10:07.17. Her time also puts her at third in the NCAA so far this season.
Siona Chisholm had an impressive performance in the 5000m, finishing fourth with a PR time of 15:37.74. Chisholm is third in the ACC and fourth in the NCAA, putting herself in position to qualify for regionals as well.
Jordyn Borsch secured a top-10 finish with a time of 55.94 in the 400m as she finished 7th in the event. Madison Schmidt finished seventh in high jump with a height of 1.65m. Jadin O’Brien also claimed a top-10 finish as she placed ninth in the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 13.63 (+2.1).
Claire Sievern set a PR in the 1500m race with a time of 4:22.66, sitting in the top-10 of the ACC.
Day Three
On the final day of the Raleigh Relays, Ellis Weekley competed in the 400m for the first time and took home an impressive finish as she placed third with a time of 1:00.80. She was followed by Reese Sanders who finished ninth with a time of 1:01.94.
Jacob Ranker finished 11th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.39 and is currently 6th in the ACC.
Notre Dame is back in action April 4-5 as they compete in the Tennessee Relays in Knoxville, TN.
