CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish opened up their outdoor season competing in the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational at Cobb Stadium.
Michael Shoaf had a great weekend in Florida as he finished first in the men’s shot put with a personal record throw of 19.48m, which leads the ACC and is second in the NCAA so far this season. Cole Targgart finished third with a throw of 17.40m and Henry Boudreau finished fifth with a throw of 15.95m.
Targgart also finished second in the men’s discus (51.43m) and Boudreau finished third (50.43), recording a PR in the event.
Blake Kusky and Michael Shoaf competed in the men’s hammer throw, as well. Kusky also recorded a PR in the event as he finished with a throw of 61.46m. Shoaf opened up the season with a throw of 57.31m in the hammer throw.
Emma Albano competed in both the women’s hammer throw and the shot put for the Irish opened up the season recording a new PR with a distance of 57.26m in the hammer throw, placing fifth in the event. Albano finished third in shot put as she recorded a throw of 12.97m.
Shiloh Corrales-Nelson also competed in the women’s hammer throw and finished the day with a throw of 50.93m in the event. Sarah David finished seventh in the javelin throw as recorded a throw of 38.62m.
The Irish are back in action March 28-30 as they head to Raleigh, NC to compete in the Raleigh Relays.
