BOSTON, Mass. – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish concluded their strong performance at the 2024 Indoor Track and Field ACC Championships on Saturday, Feb. 24 in the finals of several events.
Olivia Markezich continues to impress as she brings home another piece of hardware after winning the ACC title for the women’s 3000m race. Markezich placed first with a time of 8:52.03 in the event. Sophie Novak and Siona Chisholm each finished in the top 10 with sixth and seventh place finishes, running a 9:09.20 and 9:19.66 respectively in the 3000m.
Michael Shoaf claimed a spot at the podium in the shot put as he took third with a throw of 18.90m. He was followed by Cole Targgart who finished sixth (17.17m), Zach Petko who finished eighth (16.93m), and Henry Boudreau who finished thirteenth (15.44m).
Daelen Ackley ran a 4:00.19 in the men’s mile, finishing fifth. Claire Sievern ran a personal best time in the women’s 800m as she ran a 2:05.78 to take sixth place. Gretchen Farley followed with a seventh place finish, running a 2:07.32 in the 800m.
Vincent Mauri led the charge in the men’s 3000m as he finished eighth with a time of 7:56.74. Ethan Coleman finished right behind him, clocking a 7:56.82 and setting a personal record in the event. Carter Solomon (7:57.94) and Robert Cozean (8:00.30) each set PR’s in the 3000m as well, finishing twelfth and fifthteeth respectively.
NCAA Championships will be held at The Track at New Balance in Boston, Mass. from Friday, March 8 to Saturday, March 9.
