VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish wrapped up another fall tournament as they competed in the Evie Odom Invitational at the Princess Anne Country Club Oct. 6-8.
“The Evie Odom Invitational is a first class event in every way,” said head coach Caroline Powers Ellis. “Princess Anne Country Club – from the staff, to the food, to the volunteers – made this event one of the most elite hospitality events of college golf. After a slow start, I am proud of our team for fighting back on day two and then having our lowest team score of the week in the final round today.”
The Irish finished 10th as they scored a collective 877 (+37) and were led by graduate Lauren Beaudreau. Beaudreau finished T18 after shooting a 216 (+6) and tallying nine birdies in the tournament. Her best score came on Saturday as she recorded a 70 (E) in round two, with scores of 74 (+4) in round one and 72 (+2) in round three.
She was followed by freshman Mimi Burton and senior Chloe Schiavone, who each finished T23 after shooting a 218 (+8). While Schiavone started the tournament with her best score in round one, Burton concluded the tournament with her best performance as they each tallied a 70 (E) in their best rounds.
Freshman Nina Rissi wrapped up play with a career milestone as she recorded her first hole in one on the final hole of round three.
“Mimi Burton has continued to excel this fall and has shown maturity beyond her years out on the course,” continued Powers Ellis. “Lauren and Chloe continue to be reliable every round and find a way to score no matter what. I am proud of the growth of this team and I know our best golf is still ahead of us.”
