The Notre Dame men’s and women’s fencing teams competed in the St. John’s Invitational at Jamaica, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon. The men compiled a 4-1 record, beating Ohio State 17-10, Penn State 17-10, Harvard 17-10, and St. John’s 16-11, before falling to Columbia 15-12. The women went 3-2, beating Ohio State 17-10, Penn State 19-8, and Harvard 14-13, while losing to St. John’s 18-9 and Columbia 16-11.
Luke Linder was the standout performer of the day, posting a record of 12-3 in sabre against stiff competition. The senior went 3-0 against Columbia and Penn State while posting a mark of 2-1 versus Harvard, St. John’s and Ohio State.
On the women’s side Ariadna Tucker turned in a 9-3 day in foil and Chelsea Delsoin finished 8-4 in sabre.
The Irish will be back in action on Sunday in Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania for the final day of the Philadelphia Invitational.
