Notre Dame graduate student Olivia Markezich is one of four finalists for the Class of 2024 Honda Sport Award for Cross Country as announced by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA).
Markezich, a senior from Woodinville, Wash., finished the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championship in third place and led her team to a fourth-place finish. She earned USTFCCCA All-America honors for the third time in her career and captured the 2023 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship individual title. Off the course, she is a three-time All-ACC Cross Country Academic Team member.
The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 48 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA- sanctioned sports and signifies “the best of the best in collegiate athletics”. The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2024 Honda Cup which will be presented during the live telecast of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards Presented by Honda on CBS Sports Network in June.
The cross country finalists were selected from the top finishes at the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championship. The Honda Sport award winner for cross country will be announced later this week after voting by administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools. Each NCAA member institution has a vote.
