CHARLOTTE – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its 2023-24 Men’s Basketball All-ACC Academic Team on Thursday. Four Irish were named to the 69 student-athlete list – Logan Imes, Kebba Njie, Braeden Shrewsberry and Matt Zona. It marked the first ACC Academic honor for all four.
All-ACC Academic Team criteria includes the following:
- Must have participated in 50 percent of the team’s scheduled games
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA for their career as well as during the most recently completed semester
- Graduate students must have an undergraduate and graduate career minimum GPA of 3.0 as well as the most recent semester
Irish Honorees
Guard Braeden Shrewsberry – Film, Television and Theatre
- The freshman played in all 33 games with 15 starts
- Shrewsberry averaged 10.2 points per game while shooting 39.8 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from three
- Drained 55 three-pointers in ACC play, setting a new Notre Dame ACC record
- Shrews finished with 78 made threes which were the second most by a freshman
- 13 double-digit scoring performances over the last 19 games
- Averaged 12.8 ppg in true road contests
Forward Kebba Njie – Sociology
- The sophomore played in 29 games with 27 starts
- Averaged 4.3 points and 5.4 rebounds, shooting 37.4 percent from the field
- Led the team in rebounding and offensive boards per game
- In his ACC Tournament debut, Njie nearly notched a double-double with 11 points and 9 rebounds
Guard Logan Imes – Strategic
- The freshman played in 31 games with 3 starts, averaging 17.6 minutes per game
- Imes averaged 2.0 points and 2.6 rebounds
- Dependable ball handler for Coach Shrews – averaged less than a turnover per game with a 1.4 A/TO ratio
Forward Matt Zona – Nonprofit
- The senior played in 33 games with 6 starts, averaging 11.2 minutes
- Zona averaged 2.3 points and 2.3 rebounds
- Was named the team’s official captain ahead of Senior Night
- ACC Tourney vs. Georgia Tech – tied his season high of 7 points, draining an important three early in the 2nd half
