Jay Schuyler 2023-24 Baseball Staff

Jay Schuyler enters his first season with the Irish as the program’s Graduate Student Manager.
He is in his first year of the prestigious M.B.A. program within the Notre Dame Mendoza College
of Business. Schuyler spends most of his time assisting Coach Voltz with pitching staff duties,
but also assists in day-to-day operations as well.

Prior to joining the Irish, Schuyler spent the past 4 seasons playing professional baseball with
the Cincinnati Reds. He was a 7 th round draft pick (pick #199 overall) in 2018 out of the
University of San Diego. He progressed through the minors each year where he reached AAA in
2021. He was voted the Dayton Dragons “Fan Friendliest” in 2019 for spending the most time
interacting with fans at games, signing autographs, and attending community service events.

During his time at the University of San Diego, Schuyler led his team in hitting in 2017 and 2018
with 75 hits in both years and a .353 and .343 batting average respectively. He also threw out
11 of 14 potential base stealers from behind the plate. He was a member of the Student Athlete
Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was a two-time All-Academic team member in the West Coast
Conference.

After earning his M.B.A., Schuyler hopes to stay involved in the sports world in some sort of
business or front office role.
