Assistant Athletics Director, Strength & Conditioning (Volleyball, Fencing)
Michael Szemborski joined Notre Dame Athletics in June 2017 and is directly responsible for overseeing the strength & conditioning programs for all Irish sports except football, along with serving daily as the head strength and conditioning coach for Volleyball and Fencing.
Before Notre Dame, Szemborski spent 12 years working at the University of Maryland. During his time in College Park, he spent seven years as the director of strength and conditioning for Olympic sports, and four years as the top assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Terrapin football team. Before Maryland, Szemborski spent three years as a volunteer assistant and one year as a part-time assistant at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia.
He graduated from Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Virginia, in 2002 and later received his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Longwood University in 2007. Szemborski resides in Granger, Indiana, with his wife, Brittany, his son, Leo, and his daughter, Cecilia.
