Deputy Athletics Director – Competitive Excellence
Jody Sadler is in her twenty-third year at the University of Notre Dame with twenty-one of those years serving as a member of the Notre Dame athletics administration staff. Sadler is currently a member of the department’s leadership team and serves as the Deputy Athletics Director of Competitive Excellence. In her current role, she oversees all aspects of sports performance for football and olympic sports (sports medicine, nutrition, strength & conditioning, sports psychology, sports science and GLD Center) and sport administration.
Returning to the department in 2013 as senior associate athletics director. She had been promoted to associate athletics director for administration at the start of the 2009-10 school year before being nominated for and soon embarking on an 18-month rotational program through the University in 2011. While in this program, she worked on projects relative to strategic planning, communications and business development with the leadership teams in University Relations, The College of Science and The Office of Student Affairs.
As senior associate athletics director, Sadler oversaw the day-to-day administration of the Director of Athletics Office and provided counsel relative to the development and execution of all department strategic initiatives, human resources and planning on behalf of the Vice President & Director of Athletics. She also had oversight and managed post-season bowl trip planning for football. She served as the administrator for rowing for seven years and the baseball administrator from 2013-2023. Sadler began her career within the department as Assistant Athletics’ Director for Employee Services, where she managed all aspects of personnel matters.
Prior to Notre Dame, Sadler worked in the human resources profession for the NCAA (Overland Park, Kansas and Indianapolis); Quality Dining, Inc. (Mishawaka) and the South Bend Tribune. Before embarking on a career in human resources, she worked for Advanced Drainage Systems in Columbus, Ohio, as a corporate/international accounts representative.
Sadler also completed a four-year term as a member of the NCAA Division I Rowing Committee, served as chair of the BIG EAST Rowing Championship Committee in 2009-10 and served as a member of the ACC Committee on Committees. She also has served and is currently serving on a variety of campus committees.
Sadler graduated from Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and with her MBA from Notre Dame’s Executive MBA Program. She is married to Les Sadler, formerly of Rushville, Ind. and is the bonus mom to Adam (Elizabeth) Sadler and Jordan (Michelle) Sadler, both of Fairland, Ind.
