SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team began Atlantic Coast Conference play Friday night with a 4-1 win over Miami (Fla.). Sebastian Dominko and Jean-Marc Malkowski set the tone with a 6-2 win over the top Hurricane doubles team, who came into the match ranked #27 in the country. The doubles point was clinched by the new pairing of Nil Giraldez and Chase Thompson at #2 doubles with a 6-3 win.
The Fighting Irish began well in singles with quick advantages on multiple courts. Dominko, Thompson, Malkowski and Jamie Corsillo won opening sets in routine fashion. The most interesting first set was from freshman Kyran Magimay at #6 singles who won five straight games to win the set 7-5 and give the Irish the five first sets.
Dominko was the first to complete his match with a 6-2, 6-4 win at the #1 position. Malkowski and Corsillo had parallel timing in their matches as they both closed in on their respective wins as the Irish needed two more points to win the match. Malkowski got to the finish line first with a 7-5, 6-3 win at #5. With the team needing one more victory, Corsillo, the junior from Boca Raton, closed out his match winning 6-2, 7-5 at #4 to clinch the victory. The remaining matches would be abandoned with Magimay serving for the match on court 6 and Thompson up early in the third set at #3 singles.

The Irish will have two more matches this weekend as they host a doubleheader on Sunday. Notre Dame will host #17 Florida State at noon in an ACC matchup followed by a match with Cleveland State at 5 p.m.
