SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team played their final home match of the season outdoors and came away with a 4-0 victory of #46 ranked Louisville. Despite the sweep of the Cardinals, the match would be three hours until dual would end with the Fighting Irish on the right side of the box score.
In doubles, Notre Dame would strike first with a win by the reigning ACC Doubles Team of the Week, Nil Giraldez and Chase Thompson, at #2. After the Cardinals would even it up with a match at the top spot between two teams ranked in the top-12 in the country, the third doubles team of Evan Lee and Yu Zhang would win 6-3 to clinch the point.
Singles play would be a battle on every court, with the first match finish not concluding until two and a half hours from the beginning of the dual match. Kyran Magimay would be first off the court with a 6-1, 7-6 (4) win at #5. Four of the remaining five matches would go to a third set. Three of the contests saw the Irish rebound from losing a first set to take the second.
The next off the court was Thompson, playing #3 singles and having lost the first set 7-5. After the opening set stumble, he ran away with the second and third sets 6-1, 6-0 to put his team a match away from the win. Dominko, taking on the #68 player in the country, would flip his match after losing a close first set. After a second second tiebreak, he dominated the third 6-1 to pick up the ranked win and seal the 4-0 team victory.
The remaining matches would be abandoned with Giraldez and Corsillo in a third set and Zhang up a set and up 2-0 in a second set tiebreak.

With one match to go, the men’s team will head east for a single match against Boston College Friday. The match will be played at the Weymouth Club in Massachusetts with first serve set for 3 pm.
