SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame hosted Louisville on Friday and Saturday for a Last Chance Meet ahead of NCAA Championships, and multiple swimmers posted best times.
Distance freestyler Andrew Guziec notched a pair of best times in the 500 free (4:23.95) and 1650 free (15:12.07). The latter now ranks seventh in program history.
After an impressive Ohio State Winter Invite two weeks ago, Sammy Sierra continues to better his times in multiple events. Sierra dropped a 1:44.66 in the 200 fly and a 1:56.21 in the 200 breast. Both of those times are NCAA B cuts, and his 200 fly time now ranks 10th in program history.
Finally, freshman Lucas Logue notched a new best time of 46.46 in the 100 back, lowering a mark of 46.82 set this year at the Tim Welsh Classic.
Of note on the women’s side, the 200 free relay team of Grace Brenneman, Madelyn Christman, Jess Geriane and Lente Geelen went 1:28.98, just 0.17 off the school record set in 2018. Christman and Geriane went 21.64 and 21.78, respectively.
Notre Dame’s next competition will be Zone C Championships in Louisville for divers from March 14-16. Between now and then, the NCAA bids for swimmers will be released — the women this week and the men next week.
