Madelyn Christman and Maggie Graves will be headed to the nation’s top collegiate competition.
On Wednesday, the NCAA announced the Irish juniors have qualified for the 2024 NCAA Championships, which are set for March 20-23 at the University of Georgia. It is the first time for both Christman and Graves.
Christman, a native of nearby Carmel, Ind., earned a spot in the meet in the 200 backstroke and was also invited as a result to swim the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle. She is coming off of a season in which she posted numerous best times in those events; Christman’s 1:53.06 200 back now ranks second in school history while her 100 back (52.66) and 100 free (49.07) are both third. Christman placed fourth in the 200 back at the 2024 ACC Championships.
Graves hails from outside of Chicago in Barrington, Ill. She will compete at NCAAs in the 1650 freestyle after posting a time of 16:11.39 in the event this season. That mark ranks second in program history. Graves most recently placed fifth in the 1650 at the 2024 ACC Championships.
