CHARLOTTE – The great news for Notre Dame senior defender Eva Gaetino continued on Thursday as the Atlantic Coast Conference announced her as their women’s soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Gaetino became the first ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the program and the first league Scholar of the Year winner since Lauren Fowlkes in 2010 from the Big East.
Just hours before the ACC announcement, Gaetino signed a pro contract with Paris Saint-Germain, joining former Irish teammate Korbin Albert in one of the biggest football brands in the world. Gaetino ended her Irish career a two-time ACC Defender of the Year, a two-time First Team All-American and a two-time Mac Hermann Trophy semifinalist.
The Michigan native is a science business major and carries a 3.48 career GPA. At the conclusion of the 2023 season, Gaetino was named the United Soccer Coaches Scholar Player of the Year becoming the second straight ACC player to earn the honor after Florida State’s Jenna Nighswonger won the award in 2022.
In addition, that wasn’t the only news coming out of the league office, for they announced their full list for the All-ACC Academic Team. In total, 13 Irish made the list.
